Scotchtown, the Town of Wallkill, and the County of Orange are served by the Region 3 office of the DEC in New Paltz and a sub-office in Tarrytown. The most popular areas on the DEC Web site seem to be the sections devoted to hunting and fishing permits, but you can also find information on environmental regulations and enforcement.

The Middletown School District is the second largest district in the county, operating four elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. Not surprisingly, they have a detailed and well organized Web site. Some children living on the west side of Scotchtown attend schools in the Middletown District.
