Morris'
Carousel Restaurant and Ice Cream Stand
On Thursday, July 14, 1960, William and Marion Morris opened a restaurant and ice cream stand near the Quickway on what is now Route 211 (then Route 84) across from where the Wal-mart is today. Full page advertisements in the Middletown Daily Record listed a variety of refreshments offered including soft ice cream, sundaes, sherberts, shakes, malts, soft drinks, coffee, hot dogs, hamburgers, and french fries. Italian favorites, such as meat ball sandwiches and sausage and peppers, were also available. Designed by Peter P. Barone, architect, and built by Lester E. Martin, general contractor, the restaurant was painted a variety of pastel colors. After the Carousel went out of business, the structure became a bank. Right now this article is unfortunately very brief. If you have any information or anecdotes to share, please send them to us by email. Copyright
